Setup guide
New puppy starter checklist
A room-by-room plan for the first week, focused on fit and routine rather than buying everything at once.
Reviewed July 7, 2026. Estimates are planning aids, not veterinary or professional advice.
Before arrival
Confirm food with the breeder, shelter, or veterinarian; choose a washable sleep area; secure cables, plants, bins, and small objects.
Measure the intended crate and gate locations before ordering. A product that blocks a walkway or cannot be cleaned easily is not a good fit.
First-week essentials
Start with identification, food and water bowls, the current food, a correctly fitted leash or harness, waste supplies, a washable bed, and an appropriate restraint or carrier.
Delay optional gadgets until the daily feeding, sleep, toilet, exercise, and cleanup routine is clear.
Safety questions
Ask a qualified veterinarian about vaccinations, diet, parasite prevention, and urgent symptoms. Product guides cannot replace pet-specific medical advice.
